DESIGN SUMMARY

The WMM-4Q was designed to offer all the features of FireOne’s advanced wireless technology in a compact case that is easy to conceal making it ideal for stage productions, theatrical productions and special effects applications.

The WMM-4Q design incorporates state-of-the-art proprietary circuitry with advanced components that provide unrivaled performance in an extremely robust package. FireOne’s dependable wireless digital communication technology, excellent battery life and advanced CDS (capacitive discharge system) energy storage system enables the WMM-4Q to consistently meet the needs of the world’s most complex pyrotechnic displays.

After the Safe-Sense© power up sequence, each module becomes an intelligent microprocessor controlled local power source that is capable of firing all 4 (lines) cues at any timed interval including simultaneously (literally zero time latency).

The military grade wireless protocol and excellent battery life, paired with FireOne’s advanced communications and CDS technology, make the WMM-4Q an extremely versatile firing module. Combined with the completely sealed durable case the WMM-4Q is the perfect firing module for challenging wireless applications.

While FireOne field modules are perfect for large scale displays, the WMM-4Q user-friendly interface and affordability make it a perfect fit for smaller displays, stage shows and special events and special effects.

DISPLAY

The WMM-4Q is a meant to be lightweight and compact. The durable case is completely sealed to prevent any water ingress, earning an IP-68 rating. The module address, wireless channel, and wireless security code are programmed using FireOne UltraFire software. Once programmed, it persists in the module’s memory. When powered on, the WMM-4Q is immediately ready to operate.

The front display includes the ON/OFF pushbutton switch, as well as the five diagnostic LEDs. The diagnostic LED’s are used to report the battery level, charger status, wireless signal, fire power, and communications. The back of the module includes an erasable label for recording the assigned module address and wireless channel information.

CUE OUTPUTS

The top of the module uses an 8-pin block connector. The pins are designated as positive (+) and negative (-) outputs for each of the four firing cues. This is conveniently marked above the cue input. The 8-pin block is removable and can be wired to the e-matches prior to being connected to the WMM-4Q.

WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY

FireOne’s wireless communications system was conceived, invented and perfected by FireOne in 1999 and incrementally and continually improved year after year. The wireless construct of the communications system replaces physical wiring with a proprietary military grade wireless link that provides identical functionality of a wired version. The wireless modules are fully compatible with all other devices within the FireOne system. Operational range and sensitivity is exceptional.

Wireless Technology WMM-4Q

FireOne’s proprietary engineering and building block concept provides extraordinary flexibility in design and layout of the system. Effectively, any FireOne controller can control thousands of cues from a single control panel output when using wireless modules. (All control panels have multiple outputs.) This allows for an unlimited quantity of wireless field modules being operated from any output of a control panel. FireOne’s advanced system technology provides exceptional operational distances. FireOne’s design criteria always places the field modules as close to the pyrotechnic product as possible, minimizing the electric match wiring requirements and thereby increasing the system reliability.

CDS TECHNOLOGY

FireOne pioneered the capacitive discharge system (CDS) in the 1991 with the inherent benefit that all the firing energy required to fire the electric matches is stored internally in the firing module’s capacitive discharge system (CDS).  This advanced CDS technology utilizes a proprietary digitally controlled capacitor storage system that is energized the moment the system is armed via the rechargeable lithium polymer battery. As an added safety measure, the CDS is completely and immediately discharged when the system is shut off or fire power is not required.

BENEFITS

  • Firing energy is provided by a rechargeable lithium polymer
  • CDS eliminates the dependence on the load capacity of the control panel battery for firing energy
  • Each module is capable of firing all 4 cues simultaneously

With FireOne’s CDS technology the user is assured that there is always sufficient energy to ignite all of the connected e-matches. The operator can prepare for a show with the full confidence that the WMM-4Q will be able to consistently provide 24 volts and 5 amperes to each cue. This is enough power to fire multiple e-matches per firing cue. The module can even be counted on to fire all 4 cues and the respective e-matches simultaneously with no measurable time difference between each cue.

EXAMPLES

In this example, a very basic Wireless FireOne System consists of three pieces: a handheld controller; one field module; and one integrated connection device for the pyrotechnic product. This basic system can ignite 4 individual cues (or lines), while providing phenomenal portability.

WMM-4Q Connected to HC 510

Up to 99 individually addressed WMM-4Q modules can be connected to a single controller. With 4 e-matches per modules, this results in 396 individual firing cues. Additionally, any controller and module combination can be used with the WMM-4Q, providing maximum flexibility.
